The Major Case Squad has identified a Troy man who was found dead in an Illinois cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
Chad Q. Bell, 29, was found dead in Friedens Cemetery at State Rte. 162 in Troy, Ill. by a cemetery employee around noon on Tuesday.
Investigators said Bell’s autopsy is complete but the cause of death is still unknown.
Major Jeff Connor of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis said there were no obvious signs of what caused Bell’s death but investigators believe the circumstances are suspicious.
“At this time we believe somebody put his body there after his death,” Connor said.
Connor said it is unknown how long Bell had been dead when he was discovered, but investigators talked with people who last spoke to him between 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday night.
The Major Case Squad has no suspect at this time and is continuing its investigation while waiting on more tests from the coroner and pathologist.
Connor said investigators are encouraging anyone who knew or last spoke to Bell or visited the cemetery on Monday or Tuesday to contact the Major Case Squad at (618) 667-6722.
