Obama increasing healthcare reform support

HOUSTON, March 12 (UPI) -- When healthcare reform is described as the "Obama plan" and contrasted with the Republican plan, support rises, a U.S. survey indicates.

Dr. S. Ward Casscells, vice president of external relations and public policy at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, says the increase in support for healthcare reform when described as the Obama plan could be a testament to the popularity of the president.

The University of Texas Health Science Center commissioned Zogby International to conduct online surveys both before and after the healthcare summit Feb. 25.

Before the summit, 40 percent preferred the Obama plan and 40 percent preferred a Republican alternative. After the summit, 43 percent preferred the Obama plan and 44 percent a GOP alternative.

However, Casscells says, despite conventional wisdom that support is waning, last year 27 percent supported reform.

"When asked which party is most serious about putting the nation's needs ahead of political gain for health reform, 70 percent of the Democrats surveyed chose their party whereas only 55 percent of the Republicans selected their party," Casscells says in a statement.

The pre-summit survey of 1,665 likely voters was conducted Feb. 24-25 and had a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points. The post-summit survey of 2,805 likely voters conducted March 2-4 had a margin of error of 1.8 percentage points.

It's pretty sad that someone would think a plan would be better just because a certain persons name is on it.

I have done numerous phone surveys, and walked door to door in almost every neighborhood throughout St. Louis City & St. Louis County, and I have not found one single person who is against this health care reform bill. I think Fox News is just trying to manipulate people into thinking that people oppose this bill.

obamain 2010, Even if you area a Acorn organizer You could not have possible surveyed 1% the One millon + people that reside in St Louis and St Louis County, the fact you are still alive tells me you have never tried to interview any of the thousands of Rednecks in either the city or the county. You seem to stretch the truth more than Acorn does, and that is saying a lot.

To say the plan is obama's is a plain lie, obama is not a planner in any stretch of the imagination. his marxist traines and planners is where this bill came from. I seriously doubt from observing him for the past year and a half, He even needs someone to tell him where the teleprompter is, and we all know someone else wrote the words that are on the teleprompter. obama could not pour piss out of a bucket if the instructions were on the bottom. He nor any of his other democratic cronies has any idea of all the garbage this bill contains, even quoting Pelosi "let's hurry up and pass this bill so we can see what is in it" For her to even speak a little bit of truth is something amazing in itself.

You are correct. I might not have been to all the "Red Neck Areas" because they tend to not read or write very well. I did however have a few pop up books on health care reform with lots of pictures and glittery things to keep their attention. They responded very well.

obamain2010 I guess you have the same pop up books you used in Highs School it's too bad you didn't finish so you could read books with words. But again that seems to be the type of books Obama uses to show his healthcare reform policies, so I guess that means you or the "Anointed One" are not either very good at explaining why the "Anointed One" wants this garbage anyway At any of his stops costing $2,000,000 per stop for the american public. and he will not take any Questions either from citizens or the conservative news media about his reform package.

This is a repeat of the comment I made about David Limbaugh's post:

Please write or call your Congressperson and give them the following story:

"I am calling you because of a problem I have with an insurance company. You see I have been paying into my policy since 2007. I needed to submit a claim and was told that because I had only been paying in three years I was not yet covered. I was told that I needed to pay in a fourth year and then I would be able to start making claims."

Whenever they start ripping the insurance company please tell them that the scenario you gave them was made up and no insurance company would stay in business if they operated that way.

Then, if they haven't already figure it out, ask them why are the Democrats in Congress and the Democrat President forcing the American taxpayer to pay for health care that is structured exactly as the scenario I just made up and even more ridiculous if we refuse to participate we can be fined and/or jailed.

obamain2012 did you ask them to give you their understanding of the health care bill? Are they aware of the FACTS that I put forward in the comment above?

Let me get this right, Pelosi states in a press conference that they need to pass the bill so "we can see what's in it" implying that people are ignorant of what's in the bill yet Zogby can conduct a poll of 1,665 people who are informed because 43% favor "Obama's Bill".

Carlton you are absolutely correct, this isn't Obama's plan. He is a devious in that he didn't submit a bill only a string of desires in speeches. This way if it works then he can say that it was his bill and if it fails he can blame it on Congress. It is the exact same tactic he had in the Illinois Senate. If an issue was too politically hot then he voted present.

Anything that this Congress presents to him he will sign knowing it is a snow ball to a rapid expansion of Federal Government. If it isn't "Liberal" enough already it soon will be. This is not about helping people it is about MONEY. If the Democrat Party was so concerned with the poor, especially minorities, why is it that they are doing the worst while the Democrats are in total control? If ALL the Democrats in the House and Senate vote yes on anything there is nothing the Republicans can do to stop it.

The Federal Government (both Rs and Ds) have used Social Security as a piggy bank taking the money and replacing with IOUs. We hear from the Liberals "everyone should have health care because we are the richest country in the world!". My friends the Federal Government is bankrupt and we are the unwilling co-signers.

The problem is they look at taxes AND property as part of the Federal Government assets and that is Unconstitutional. If this monstrosity becomes the law of the land the middle class will be hit with taxes like they never would believe!

I just got my AARP Bullten today. They have been on the obama bandwagon since he made a deal with them last year. Well, that apparently didn't work out very well for AARP I read on Fox news that thousands if not hundreds of thousands of AARP members were canceling their membership and sending their cards back to their organization because of the obama deal.
In the new bulletin I received today AARP is stating it is time to stop the obama healthcare reform altogather and start a bipartisen reform from scratch one item at a time which is what 99% of Americans want.
