Police in Columbia, Missouri say a 13-year-old boy found human remains in a wooded area. The boy immediately told a family member who called police.
The human skeleton is that of an adult. It was determined the bones had been in the area where the kid found it for at least a few months. Some items of clothing were still intact. The skeleton was taken to the Boone County Coroner’s Office.
Public Information Officer Jessie Haden said in a prepared statement, “We can’t speculate about the cause of death and will wait for information from the Medical Examiner’s Office. Investigators do have leads that they are actively working, to identify the deceased, but we can’t comment further on those leads at this time. If there are any updates prior to Monday, March 8th, we’ll send those out. Otherwise, I’ll be available for comment on this case and our progress, on Monday.”
