The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported attempted abduction of a young girl in the Ashleigh Estates subdivision, located just east of Troy city limits.
According to authorities, two pre-teen girls were trying to catch their dog after it escaped from their yard Tuesday morning when one of the girls was approached by an unknown man driving a van.
The girls said the driver was a white man wearing all dark colored clothing, with a triangular shaped, dark goatee. He was driving a full-sized, dark green, van, with tinted windows and a white stripe.
The girls said the man actually got out his van and reached for one of the girls, who then ran away screaming. The children’s mother called police.
Investigators said the man may have driven past the girls before turning around to pull over by where they were walking. The girls' mother said the man also circled the neighborhood a few times after the girls had run away, before leaving.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about the identity of the suspect to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office immediately, at (636) 528-8546.
