Crude oil prices hold above $75

NEW YORK, July 9 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices held above $75 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday, as demand looked positive and U.S. supplies were down.

Stock markets were higher in Asia and Europe. On Wall Street equities closed higher for the third consecutive trading session Thursday.

In addition, the Energy Information Administration said Thursday that U.S. crude oil supplies dropped by 5 million barrels in the week ending July 2.

August delivery of light, sweet crude oil recently traded at $75.37 per barrel, off 58 cents from an overnight high of $75.95. Heating oil prices for August gained 0.0085 cents to $2.0138 per gallon. Reformulated gasoline blendstock prices rose 0.0016 cents to $2.0527 per gallon. Henry Hub natural gas prices for August gained 0.028 cents to $4.427 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price for unleaded regular gasoline dropped to $2.713 Friday from Thursday's $2.717 per gallon, AAA said.
