Good morning St. Louis!
Welcome to the new St. Louis Globe-Democrat.
The Globe-Democrat newspaper was last published on October 29, 1986 after 134 years of serving readers and advertisers in the St. Louis region. Twenty-three years later Globe-Democrat.com is ready to serve the 21st Century news, sports and information needs of the greater metropolitan area.
In 1977, on the 125th anniversary of the paper, Bill Feustel wrote an article about the history of the Globe. In his last paragraph he wrote, “The newspaper will continue to pioneer the new art of packaging and displaying news to attract the reader of the late 20th Century. And it can look back over 125 years of chronicling the important news and of a continuous flow of dedicated editors, publishers and reports who established and maintained its quality as a major contributor of the knowledge and life of its readers."
The pioneering that Bill Feustel wrote about in 1977 begins again today.

Great to see someone shake things up in this town. Embrace change and do it the right way unlike other outlets in the metro area. Can't wait to see what you guys have in store for us.

Congratulations on bringing what I hope will be a real alternative to St. Louis readers. I am old enough to recall fondly the previous incarnation of the Globe Democrat.
The adjective most often deservedly associated with that publication was "crusading". I hope that this venture lives up to that proud tradition. Although I welcome the promised technological innovation, what I have missed most in this exile has been old fashioned hard hitting news.
My chief hope is that we will all again be able to read the CRUSADING GLOBE DEMOCRAT.

Will you be monitoring these comments better than the post dispatch? I refuse to look on their website anymore with their city bashing, racist and awful comments that the Post Dispatch lets people get away with.

Great job - this is so exciting.
Throw us readers a bone though - make some kind of preemptive advertising policy that prohibits Flash ads that cover the homepage and temporarily prevent users from reading news stories.
Keep up the great work - this is such a great day for St. Louis.

The first thing I used to do in the morning is read the Morning Globe. When it folded a void appeared. Now after all these years..guess what no void. Congrats to all involved. I wish there was a way I could be involved in this venture. Good Luck many times over. I look forward to reading and watching this evolve into the best news publication in city.
God Bless All Involved!!!!!

Is so excited the Globe is back. STL is too big a town to have just one source for news. Now only if I can get it delivered to my door... I know.. baby steps.

Really excited to read!! St. Louis really needed another news source.
Not a big fan of just black and white. And layout is a little odd. But looking forward to two different news sources.

It's nice to see a local news source that won't be far-left leaning. The folks here need to read the TRUTH, not the party line.

Welcome back. It'll be nice to have a 2nd major site for news in town. I really hoping your monitoring and managing comments better than the PD.
Your site is so much easier to navigate than theirs right off the bat.
I hope everything goes great and the site takes off.
Cheers.

Welcome back! It's been too long. Just maintain the conservative alternative the Globe has always been and we will be happy campers! So far, I like it a lot, and finally have an alternative to "the only game in town." Thanks.

Having moved here in 95, all I ever had was the post-disgrace. It's nice to see an alternative to that ragsheet, Just give me the straight news without any political leaning to the story. I am conservative, but I want to read the real story, not a slanted version, like the other paper does. Oh, and some comics would be nice, I surf 3 sites for them now in the morning.

From an old St.Louis native who wound up in Indiana.... Welcome Back! I'm a middle of the roader so it is great to see the old home town has two newspapers again where we can read both sides of the story and make judgment. Hope all of St.Louis can recognize this gift you've given us just before Christmas. Congratulations and wishing you another century or more of success. I can almost hear that kid who used to peddle the Globe's early edition in the evenings with his cry... "Morning Globe Payyypurrr!! Again welcome back and many thanks.

We have been waiting for a local voice since the sell out of the Pulitzers. Above all keep your forums open and free. We need new blood in this once great town. Welcome back and lead the way !!!!

I grew up with the Globe in central Missouri....it was in our mailbox every morning at the postoffice. Read it then, moved to the St. Louis area and subscribed to it here and read that until it went out of business. How I missed the Globe. Can't believe in a city the size of St. Louis there was only one daily paper. So glad to see it back !!
