ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis freshman guard Jordan Goodwin was named the Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball Rookie of the Week for the period of Dec. 18-24, the league announced today.
Goodwin led the Billikens to a pair of wins last week against Campbell and SEMO, scoring a team-leading 18 ppg over that stretch while shooting 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the field.
Against Campbell on Dec. 19, Goodwin scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Three days later against SEMO, he dropped 20 points (16 in the first half) and gathered eight boards as SLU rolled to a 30-point win.
For the season, Goodwin is second on the Billikens in scoring average (11.8 ppg). He leads SLU in total rebounds (89), assists (49) and steals (29). Goodwin is second in the A-10 in steals and 18th nationally.
Goodwin and the Billikens open A-10 play on Saturday, Dec. 30, facing La Salle in Philadelphia. Game time is 1 p.m. (CT).
